Children in UK are affected due to swine flu – schools could stay closed
The Department for Children, Schools and Families said, "Cannot be certain what the situation will be", come the autumn.
Nearly 1,000 schools have confirmed cases of swine flu, even though the majorities have remained open, according to the DCSF.
At the begin of the epidemic year, affected schools closed in an effort to control the virus but the UK government has now turned away from such steps as the figure of cases rises too high. The DCSF said: "As the summer term is drawing to an end, it is important to ensure that everyone will be in a position to know what will happen at the start of the autumn term.
There are furthermore suggestions the stretch of the virus might begin to slow over July and August before renaissance in the autumn while schools reopen.
A note will be sent to schools in the final week of August informing them of what the situation is and steps that should be taken regarding reopening of schools.
